Current members of The Renaissance Group (TRG) are institutions of mid-to-large size and comprehensive in programming. These institutions have sizeable teacher education programs indicating that the program is an important segment of the institution’s mission. A significant number of teachers, counselors and administrators nationwide successfully complete their education degrees in Renaissance Group institutions. The institutions are committed to our principles and demonstrate that commitment.
Prospective Member Selection
The Membership Committee of TRG is approved by the Board of Governors. This committee aids in all aspects of attracting, soliciting, assessing, and recommending new members.
The committee interfaces with members of the Board of Governors and Deans of Education who each are asked to suggest up to one prospective new member each year. This recommendation coincides with a preliminary contact with the prospective institution to ascertain interest and an indication of how they comply with TRG’s Principles. This list of names then comprises potential members for consideration. The Membership Committee provides input on the slate to the Board of Governors.
At the winter Board of Governors meeting, any potential candidates recommended by the Membership Committee are evaluated and a decision made as to whether to make a formal invitation. Providing there is a positive response from the prospective member the recommendation goes to the membership for final approval.
New Member Final Approval and Induction
At the spring business meeting, votes are taken on new members with a majority required for approval. New members are officially recognized at the Fall Conference.
